Joel & Sophie Hult’s Exciting Safari Adventure With Allan
Joel & Sophie Hult from Germany booked a 13 days Uganda safari adventure with Rent A Driver Uganda traveling with Allan Ategeka– one of the best drivers in Uganda on our team. Here is how the whole trip went down as told by Allan.
Day 1- Pick-up from TQ guest house and transfer to Lake Mburo national park
I drove to TQ guest house in Kampala city to pick up Joel & Sophie and were they excited to meet me. They checked out of the guest house and we prepared to drive to Lake Mburo national park- Uganda’s smallest savana park situated in western Uganda. The road trip lasted up to 5 hours with an en-route stop over at the Equator for pictures and relaxation before proceeding ot the park. We arrived in the afternoon to our first game drive of the safari encountering various wildlife including zebra, buaffloes, warthogs & antelopes among others. We checked in at Hyena Lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2- Drive from Lake Mburo to Bwindi National Park
We checked out of Hyena Lodge and prepared for a long drive to Bwindi forest- home of the mountain gorillas. The road trip lasted about 6 hours using the Kabale-Kisoro road with a stopover in Kabale for lunch. We proceeded to Bwindi arriving at Nkuringo gorilla lodge in the evening. We checked in for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3- Mountain gorilla trekking adventure
After an early morning breakfast, i drove Sophie & Joel to the Nkuringo information center for briefing and last minute preparations. They proceeded to the jungle with an UWA guide to track the gorillas which lasted about 4 hours. After a long trek back to the information center, i drove them back to Nkuringo gorilla lodge for relaxation before proceeding to the Batwa pygimes in the evening for a chance to experience the way of life of these original inhabitants of the Bwindi. We drove back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4- Drive from Bwindi forest to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After an early breakfast, we checked out of the lodge for a 7 hour drive to Queen Elizbeth park using the Kisoro-Kabale-Ntungamo-Bushenyi route. We stopped over at Coffee Barrister in Kabale for lunch and refreshments. We checked in at Song Bird lodge in the evening for relaxation, dinner & overnight stay.
Day 5- Game drives & Kazinga channel boat cruise
After an earlying morning breakfast, we set off into the wild for a 3 hour game drive along the Kasenyi game tracks where we got chance to encounter a variety of wildlife including lions, Kobs, Buffalo, warthog among others. I drove them back to the lodge for lunch before proceeding to the infamous Kazinga channel for a 4 hour boat cruise. There we witnessed numerous water nd land animals including crocodiles, hippos and birds.
After the boat cruise, i took them for an evening game drive before heading back to Sing Bird lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6- Drive to Semuliki national park
We drove to Semuliki national park on day 6 of our Uganda safari adventure using the Kasese-Fort POrtal route. The road trip lasted about 4 hours arriving at UWA Bandas just in time for lunch. After lunch, we proceeded to Sempaya hot springs for 1 hour of observing, taking pictures and getting a feel of the super natural spring.
Day 7- Sempaya nature walk & transfer to Rwenzori national park
After an early morning breakfast, i drove them to the Sempaya nature walk trail where they would be engaging in a 4 hours bird watching expedition. We proceeded with a 5 hours drive from Semuliki park to Rwenzori national park using the crater lakes route arriving in the evening and checking in at Kibale forest camp for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 8- Chimpanzee tracking
After an early morning breakfast, I drove Joel & Sophie to Kanyanchu tourist center for their 3 hour chimpanzee tracking adventure. They returned from the forest and we drove back to Kibale forest camp for lunch and relaxation. After lunch, we drove to Bigodi wetland where they encountered a variety of bird & primate species before proceeding to Bigodi community for a coffee and banana experience and chance to sip the local Banana brew.
Day 9- Drive from Kibale forest to Murchison falls national park
After an early breakfast, we checked out Kibale forest camp for a 9 hours drive to Murchison falls park using Kibale-Fort Portal- Kyenjojo- Hoima. We had a stopover at Seyeya courts for lunch before proceeding to Murchsion falls park arriving in the evening and checking in at Bamboo village for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 10- Morning game drive & Boat cruise for falls bottom
We had breakfast in the morning before proceeding to the game tracks for 4 hours game drive where we encountered lions, leoprads, elephants, Oribi, Kobs and rare Jackal. We drove back to the lodge after game drive for lunch before proceed to the river banks for a boat cruise to the bottom of Murchison falls. The boat cruise lasted about 4 hours before they returned on shore for transfer back Bamboo village for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 11- Game drive & Visit to falls top
Joel & Sophie wanted more of the game drive and so we went on another morning game drive on day 11 of the Uganda safari. We spotted a variety of wildlife plus some we didn’t get chance to see the previous day. After the game drive, we proceeded to the top of the falls for relaxation and pictures spending up to 2 hours.
Day 12 – Drive to Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary
We checked out of the lodge and drove to Zziwa rhino sanctuary for 1 hour of observing and taking pictures. I drove them to Zziwa Rhino lodge where they had booked a night stay.
Day 13- Drive from Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary to Jinja city
We said goodbye to the Rhinos and for a 6 hours trip Jinja city- The Adventure Capital Of East Africa and home of the River Nile source. We had an en-route stop over at Mijera for snack shopping and relaxing. We proceeded to Jinja and checked in at Home On The Nile Lodge.
Day 14- Source of Nile Tour & Sunset cruise
After breakfast, i drove them to the Nile for a full day of boat trips including source of the nile and a sunste cruise with buffet & beer on board.
Day 15- Drive to Entebbe airport
We said goodbye to Jinja for transfer back to Kampla city passing via Mabira forest and Kampala city to Entebbe airport ending the safari in Uganda.
